Becoming the Artist

"The music was always there. Now I'm giving it a voice." - Tari

Welcome. My name is Tari Purcell. I am a singer and multi-instrumentalist from Macon, Georgia. In addition to playing bass guitar, drums, trumpet, and acoustic guitar,  I primarily play keys and sing covers as the frontman with several local bands in addition to my own.

Drums were my first primary instrument playing for my home church at the age of 10.  At 12, I began learning piano, singing, and playing for our young adult choir. First semester my senior year of high school, I picked up the trumpet and achieved 1st Chair in the marching band while playing keys in the jazz band and singing baritone in the philharmonic chorus all the same semester.

As a singer and musician in the business over 30 years, I've had the opportunity to sing and play behind national artists including gospel singers Byron Cage, Dottie Peoples, Fred Hammond, and Dorinda Clark-Cole. Before Covid, I was a featured live performer with Disney Cruise Line in their French Quarter room aboard the Disney Wonder. Since then, I've been a full-time professional performer. I'm grateful to have built a career entertaining audiences full-time, performing at weddings, banquets, corporate events, birthdays, anniversaries, and more. I also work as a freelance musician with other bands and artists.

For years, I've helped others bring their music to life while putting my own artistry on the back burner. I've spent a long time singing other people's thoughts and feelings. Now, I'm ready for the world to hear mine.

I'm expanding my wheelhouse to include songwriting and currently working on my debut single, “Lost For Words.”
